Standing for

House·Captain & House·Cultural·Captain

Red Shakespeares

I want to make it easier for students and teachers to share what's working, what's not, and what they think could be better.

What I'll do

The manifesto

What I'll do

Three things I'd like to work on if I'm elected.

I

A Voice That Is Heard

Suggestion Boxes

  • Feedback
  • Anonymous

A simple way for students and teachers to raise concerns, suggestions or ideas.

  • A digital form, plus physical boxes around school if the school agrees to them
  • Anonymous or named, your choice
  • Smaller issues can be worked on directly
  • Bigger issues can be raised with the people who can actually act on them
  • Updates where possible, so suggestions don't just disappear
  • You said
  • We're working on it
  • Done

WhySometimes people have something to say but don't know who to say it to, or don't feel comfortable doing it directly.

II

Culture Through Conversation

Student conferences and discussion sessions

  • Discussion
  • Listening

Regular discussions where students can bring up topics or issues from their classes and hear different perspectives.

  • Two student representatives from each class, if the school is open to it
  • Students can bring topics through their representatives
  • Teachers can join when their perspective is useful
  • Discussions around actual topics, not just formal debates
  • Regular sessions rather than a one-time event
  • Listen
  • Understand
  • Discuss
  • Learn

WhyNot every discussion needs to be about winning an argument. Sometimes it's just useful to hear how someone else sees it.

III

Culture With Impact

Impact-driven cultural events

  • Service
  • Events

More events where the work students put in can support something outside school too.

  • Welfare organisations
  • Community initiatives
  • Social causes
  • School-led service projects
  • Art, performance, business, technology and other student skills can all be part of it

The exact events can be planned with students and teachers.

WhyWe already have plenty of creativity at JPIS. It would be nice to use some of it for something beyond the event itself.

The game

Find Savya

The skeletons have locked me in the catacombs. Crack four terminals, dodge the dead, and get me out. The fastest finders end up on this board.

    The Suggestion Box

This is the digital version of the first idea, and you can use it now.

If it is serious, do not use this box

If you are being bullied, if someone is hurting you, or if you are worried about your safety or someone else's, go to a teacher or a wellness counsellor. Not here.

Any teacher you trust is a fine place to start, and they will take it seriously. The school has several wellness counsellors. Talking to them is confidential, it is exactly what they are there for, and asking for help is not making a fuss.

I am a student. I cannot keep anyone safe and I cannot act on something urgent. If a message here suggests someone is at risk, I will pass it to a teacher or counsellor, because that is the right thing to do. This box is for ideas about school life, and that is all I can handle properly.

Have something about a club, event, space, activity or anything else at school that you think needs attention? Tell me.

    Privacy

Contact details are optional. Leave them blank and the message is anonymous.

Submissions won't be posted publicly or passed around. If I refer to something submitted here while campaigning, I'll make sure it can't be traced back to you.

The one exception is safety. If a message suggests someone is being harmed or is at risk, I will take it to a teacher or counsellor.

    Got it.

I'll look into it and see what can actually be done.

If you left your contact details, I'll get back to you.

    Since you got this far

    Who's asking

I'm Savya, a student at JPIS running for Cultural Head Boy from Red Shakespeares, and also for House Captain and House Cultural Captain.

    • I help with the IT side of assemblies, including PPTs, lights and sound
    • I've helped organise an inter-school competition
    • I've worked on the IB League website
    • I'm building Margins, a platform for people to share opinions and hear different perspectives

I've also learnt a few things from organising events, including that taking on too much at once isn't always the best way to manage things.

I was welcomed here with open arms. I'd like to give something back.
